Yoga and meditation for your burnout proof life
Have you ever walked into (and maybe even walked right back out of) a yoga studio or fitness center where you were surrounded by hyper-flexible, super-fit yoga students in $150 yoga pants carrying trendy water bottles who already seem centered, peaceful and content?
You won’t find any of that nonsense here.
My yoga classes are honest, accessible and liberating. I want you to bring your FULL self, whether you just had a fight with your friend or spouse, or are elated because you just crushed your latest work project, or were struggling to even get home in time to turn on the computer and join the class.

I encourage you to modify the practice to suit your needs in the moment. (And I offer alternatives, too.) Because we meet on Zoom, you will feel none of the social pressure you may get from being in person. Is there a day when you just aren’t feeling the class? Take a break. Walk around your house. Get a sandwich. Or do whatever you need to get back to yourself. Come back when you’re ready. I’ll be there for you.
I teach restorative and reflective yoga classes. You can expect to do some journaling, intention setting, gentle movement, restorative poses (the laying around kind) and guided meditation. Wear comfortable clothes and find a quiet space in your house with your device connected to the internet, a yoga mat, two blankets, two pillows, and a journal and something to write with.
This yoga class will offer you deep rest and renewal whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner.
Weekly classes meet live at 8:30 a.m. ET for one hour, and I offer 2-hour seasonal, deeply restorative classes about once per quarter that are all part of the Defy the Trend Coaching Community. You can try my free Seeker Package, which gives you one free yoga class, or check out my other community packages that include these classes. (You can cancel anytime.)

my background and possible blind spots:
I am an able- and white-bodied U.S.-born yoga practitioner who has never traveled to India, where yoga originated. (I plan to change that latter part someday.) I was, however, fortunate to find rare teachers in the U.S. who had trained in India or were very aware of yoga’s deeper cultural and spiritual meaning. I work hard to honor yoga’s roots and keep learning about the tradition and unlearning habits that come from learning the practice out of its cultural context.
For example, you won’t hear me close class anymore with the word, “Namaste.” Why? Because I learned from doing research and listening to Indian-born yoga teachers that the word is a greeting, not a closing. It means, “I bow to you,” and is usually reserved for elders or esteemed teachers in the tradition. I learned, and I changed how I taught class. As I learn more, I will likely make more adjustments. (Bonus, you get to learn with me. That’s the joy of being in coaching community together!)
I have practiced yoga for almost 20 years. It has quite literally saved my life over and over again. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level, and I have done specialized training in breath (pranayama), meditation including iRest yoga nidra, restorative yoga, trauma-sensitive yoga. I am also a Reiki Master.
